We need to remember that our immortality doesn’t lie in living forever in our bodies. It’s about living the right life, a righteous life while present here on earth and setting up structures and foundations for our children and future generations to build upon. This is why it is so important to invest in our children; in their resilience and strength of character as well as in their commitment to their own civic responsibility and their ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
We are spiritual beings a having a human experience and though our minds and bodies can be influenced and corrupted our spirits are pure and perfect. I think this is what they meant by being created in God’s image. Not that we physically look like God but that we are endowed with the perfect spirit of God as he lives within us.
You are your own for a time, until such time as you surrender yourself to the perfect will of God but even then you were created for His purpose even if you choose not to acknowledge it. I believe making the most of our time here means finding his will for your life and living it. Trusting that it will be everything you need it to be in order to feel fulfilled and satisfied. Not that God doesn’t grant you things you may want but as you mature you realise everything you want may not be what’s best for you. Some things are fine but others will distract you from leading a righteous life or even having a fulfilling experience here on earth.
We all have our purpose here and once we discover it, I believe we have but to just try it on for while before we discover just how well it fits. I think many people walk the earth lost because either they haven’t put the work in to see what their calling is or they haven’t put the work in to discover what it is. We’re not all called to have mega churches or international ministries. But if you trust that God knows what’s best, you will make every moment of your experience here count towards the greatest good.
